My creative process always begins with an effort to take inventory of my surroundings. How do the people, places and institutions within my sphere of observation command my commentary? I respond most immediately to the diverging and varied array of visual signifiers that I notice within my environment, an American city.

     

     My objective is to use painting and photography to combine these worlds of imagery in ways that are formally and conceptually compelling. In doing so, I explore whether these differing realities are negotiable in ways that allow for the realization of experiences that are fulfilling.
